Thoughts on “I’m a runner”… week 2

OK… Sundays can be long for church planters and their set up ministry partners and today was no exception.

Today’s journey began at 5 a.m. as I got up and headed to the office where I wrapped up some administrative details for today.  By 6:50 I was headed to the house to pick up my son, who sets up and runs the media for KidMo. His alarm didn’t go off so I woke him up and told him to have his mom bring him over when ready.

As I left… I realized I forgot to pick up the venue key on Saturday.  In a frantic panic I began trying to reach the manager of the venue at 7 a.m. which was probably about 4 hours before his alarm.

Having given him an unpleasantly early wake up call, I secured a key and made my way (a bit late) to the theater where I met the media team for set up.

We worked hard… worked up a sweat… and got everything ready.

It was not long before our first Jesus worshipers showed up for our 930 worship experience.

We started with a slim room but soon it filled.  1030 arrived and we emptied the room to visit on the porch while our next worshipers filled the room and also made their way into the simulcast theater next to the live theater.  12:00 came and we emptied again and then rushed to tear down and be out by 12:30 so the theater could open.

Why do we do it?

Because we saw many folks taking steps with Jesus today.  We saw swim camp families walk in for their first time.  We saw others arrive for their second or third or fourth times.  We saw people with habits, hurts, and hangups.  I was among them.  We do this in hopes that steps will be taken with Jesus… and they were.

We are tired but we are over joyed!  We are humbled.  We are thankful.
Guess what?   We will do it all again next week.
🙂
