Don’t just read it… Meditate on it… Memorize it.

Meditation is focusing intently on one passage of scripture, one verse throughout the week. Bringing God’s word into your memory is a powerful tool God uses to transform your thinking into His thinking and a powerful weapon against temptations of the evil one.

Psalms 1:1-4 (NLT) Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

Take one verse and focus on it for a week or two (or three or more). No need to rush this habit and cram in many verses a week. Take one verse a week or one verse every two weeks…. just start the habit of systematically memorizing and meditating on scripture.

In your journal, write down these bold sections each week and during the week you memorize the verse, fill in the sections described below. Or visit PowerPackOnline.com for printable pages.

* Write down the verse you want to memorize. Work on memorizing it during the week.

* Next, Meet the Standard. What area of your life does God need to make changes in order for you to better meet God’s standard within the verse?

* Now Make it Personal. Rewrite the verse as if God were speaking directly to you. Place your name in it where possible.

* Make it a tool and a weapon. Now that you have it memorized and understood… Use it as a tool for God to transform you. Use it as a weapon against the evil one when you are tempted. Quote it to the evil one and claim the Word. Evil runs from God’s Truth.
