He wants to…

We are in a series called Give It Up!  Rick Warren and his church have pointed us toward some truth and Hope and we want to pass it on to you.

Yesterday, most of us agreed that God is real.  Today, let’s understand three things about His character.

(1)  God knows all about my situation.

It is a fact.

Listen to how the Psalmist described this fact:

Psalm 56:8 (NLT)  You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.

Wow… God knows about my situation.  God knows you up close and He knows the personal details of your life and struggle.  He even keeps a record of every tear that has rolled down your face.

You say, “No one knows the hell I’m going through!”  That is not true.  God knows and He knew it was coming long before you did.  He not only knows what you did, He knows why you did it.  He is not shocked.  He is not surprised.  He knows you.
(2)  God cares about my situation.

Rick reminds us, “Psalm 103: “He is like a Father to us, tender and sympathetic for he knows what we are made of dust.”  God knows what we’re made of—molecules—we’re frail, we’re not superhuman.  God is tender and sympathetic.   God wants to be the Father many of you never had.  God says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.”  How can that be?  How can God love me and His love never quit?  He loves me on good days, bad days, when I serve Him and when I don’t, when I’m right, when I’m wrong.  How does He keep on loving?  Because His love is unconditional.  It’s not based on your performance.   It’s based on God’s character.  The Bible says God is love.  And He says I’ve loved you with an everlasting love.  He not only knows about your situation, He cares about it.  “God showed His great love for us, by sending Christ to die for us” (Romans 5:8).”

Who is this God?  He is Jesus.  Let me introduce you to your higher power… Jesus.  He loves you.  He cares about you.

(3)  God can change me and my situation.

God, who had the power to raise Jesus from the dead, has the power to work in and around your life.  We have struggled trying on our own.  We can’t do it.  God cares about you and He can.  He can help you close the door on the past if you will trust Him.

Luke 18:  “What is impossible for me, is possible with God.”

He’s waiting on you.  And He’s got the power.
