We are in a series called Give It Up!  Rick Warren and his church have pointed us toward some truth and Hope and we want to pass it on to you.

Surveys tell us that about 96% of people say they believe in God while only about 2% claim to be atheists.  

The Bible tells us why.  It says:

Romans 1:20 (NLT)   For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

Psalm 19:1 (NLT) The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.  
For most of us, we believe there is a God.  Instead of questioning God’s existence, we question His character… His goodness. What is He really like?   The real issue is what kind of God is He?  We have taken information and added our own thoughts and we have come up with some pretty weird ideas about what God is like.

Often we picture God like one of our parents.  If your father was emotionally distant from your family you think God is emotionally distant and uninvolved.  If your mother was overbearing and a rule-meister you feel God is overbearing and waiting to call foul and give you a life penalty.  If a parent was abusive you think God is abusive.  If your parent was untrustworthy you transfer that feeling toward God and have trouble trusting Him.  Instead of God making you in His image, you have been making God in your image… your image of Him, your opinion of Him.

The question is not who do you think God is… the real question… the more important question is who is He REALLY?  

Today… will you be willing to set aside your distorted view (we all have a distorted view) of God and begin to discover who He REALLY is… What He is really like?
